Akousmaflore est un jardin composé de véritables plantes musicales réactives à nos gestes et frôlements. Chaque plante s'éveille au moindre contact chaud et humain par un langage sonore qui lui est propre. Ce langage végétal fonctionne ainsi par le toucher. Notre aura chaude et électrique, invisible à l'oeil nu agit ici sur les ramures végétales en offrant l’expérience d’un environnement réactif à son existence. Ainsi, lorsque les spectateurs les caressent ou les effleurent celles-ci se mettent à chanter.
Devenues instruments de musique sensibles, elles offrent la possibilité de composer une orchestration florale.


Préambule : alliance végétal et numérique
À travers nos créations, nous travaillons sur des hybridations possibles entre végétal et technologie numérique. Les plantes sont des capteurs naturels et vivants, sensibles à des flux énergétiques divers. Dans ce projet, nous interprétons ces flux perçus par la plante en proposant une interaction sonore. Nous abordons un traitement, une modification des données liée à la déambulation et aux interventions des spectateurs dans l’œuvre. Les spectateurs peuvent agir de manière non déterminée sur un univers musical prêt à s’éveiller. Les gestes des spectateurs permettent d’engendrer ou de superposer des flux sonores mais aussi d’en modifier les teintes et les fluctuations.


Démarche : design de l'invisible
Notre corps produit en permanence un territoire biologique qui constitue une forme d'aura électrique. Ce phénomène subtil fait trace dans notre environnement immédiat mais à une échelle que nous ne percevons pas.
Notre démarche se poursuit avec la volonté d’«animer» ce qui échappe à notre perception. En mêlant réalité et imaginaire, nous proposons ici une expérience sensorielle qui questionne nos relations énergétiques avec les êtres vivants.

Les plantes domestiques ont souvent un statut ambigu qui oscille entre objet de décoration et être vivant. Selon certaines rumeurs populaires mais aussi scientifiques, ces «objets animés» semblent réactifs à l’attention qu’on leur porte.
Nous rappelons ici que notre environnement est fait non pas de choses inertes, mais vivantes, réactives à notre territoire biologique qui nous échappe. Les plantes rappellent leur existence par un cri, un chant, une vibration acoustique.

The interactive garden
Akousmaflore is a small garden composed of living musical plants, which react to human gestures and to gentle contact. Each plant reacts in a different way to contact or warmth by producing a specific sound. The plant «language» or song occurs through touch and the close proximity of the spectator. Our invisible electrical aura acts on the plant branches and encourages them to react. The plants sing when the audience is touching or stroking lightly them. A plant concert is created.


Alliance between nature and digital technology
In our artwork, we create hybrids between plants and digital technology. Plants are natural sensors and are sensitive to various energy flows.
Digital technologies permit us to establish a relationship between plants and sound. We display the effects of random data flow and plant interaction. The data is modified as the spectator meanders around and touches the installation, resulting in a random musical universe. Audience gestures and movements generate sound effects and changes in the texture of the sound.


Approach : invisible design
Our body continually produces an electrical and heat aura, which cannot be felt. This phenomenon exists in the environment immediately surrounding us. In our research, the «design of the invisible», our approach is to animate that which we cannot detect. Mixing reality with imagination, we propose a sensory experience that encourages us to think about our relationship with other living things and with energy. Indoor plants can have an ambiguous existence that swings between decorative object and living being. It is said that «inanimate objects» can react when they receive human attention. Through Akousmaflore, plants let us know about their existence by a scream, a melody or an acoustical vibration.

In the exhibition space, gestures and movements of the spectators are tracked by a camera.
With a digital device, silhouettes are transformed into luminous and sound shapes.
The bodies of the spectators become shadows of light by generating their own musical interaction.
When moving the spectator draw infinite luminous pictures ans each group of spectators can invent their own scenographic games.
