If you're looking for a summer-weight film, writer-director RobertGuédiguian's A l'attaque!may be it. It's light but not frivolous, idiosyncratic though not way out, good-humoured yet serious at heart. An extended family of resilient working-class folk, one-time Italian immigrants, run a little garage repairing trucks for a huge outfitcalled Euroconteneur. They haven't been paid in months, but doesn't le bon Dieu look after his own? Not these days. The big boss, for tax advantage, shuts his factory. The banks close in on the over-mortgaged little folk. What to do? Why, kidnap le gros fromage and hold him hostage until he coughs up le grisby.
